As FARCLIMATE, we continue to advance our mission of building resilient communities through sustainable action. On May 12–13, we held our Third Consortium Meeting in Soria, Spain, where we strengthened our ongoing climate adaptation strategy and shared progress on critical work across sectors like agriculture, fisheries, and forestry.
We gathered in the Espacio Cultural Alameda, hosted by our partners at Fundación CESEFOR. The meeting offered two full days of collaboration, learning, and strategic alignment.

Our Progress Across Work Packages
Each of our partners presented the latest developments within their work packages. This exchange allowed us to understand how each region is tackling climate adaptation and what lessons are emerging across the FARCLIMATE network.
Together, we shared challenges overcome, tools applied, and progress made. This open dialogue helped us identify synergies and outline a clearer path forward for implementing our climate adaptation strategy across Europe.
From Concept to Ground: Field Visit in Soria
To connect our ideas with real-world results, we visited nearby managed forest areas. There, our partners showcased pilot activities from the forestry sector—one of the key areas most vulnerable to climate impacts.
This field visit gave us practical insight into how local solutions are shaping our broader climate adaptation strategy. Seeing these efforts in action reaffirmed our commitment to bottom-up collaboration with communities.

Simulating a Living Lab in Action
During the meeting, we also simulated a Living Lab, one of the cornerstones of our project methodology. This exercise allowed us to explore how communities, researchers, and policymakers can co-create solutions in dynamic, real-time settings.
The Living Lab model will be crucial in scaling innovation across the more than 20 regions involved in FARCLIMATE. It aligns directly with our interdisciplinary and multisectoral approach to climate resilience.

Moving Forward Together
As the meeting came to a close, we left Soria with stronger connections and a clearer collective vision. Our benefits from new insights, shared commitments, and lessons from the ground.
We remain deeply focused on supporting rural communities through innovation, nature-based solutions, and inclusive transformation. Events like this consortium meeting help ensure that we are not just developing ideas—but putting them into practice where they are most needed.
